Project: Currency Redesign
I was challenged with this project to pick a location and redesign their currency. I had to create a story to tell within the design of the country's new currency. I started this process by choosing Greece as my location. I was deciding between the flowers in Greece or Greek gods and goddesses as the storyline of my new currency. My first step was research. I researched the flowers in Greece and the gods and goddesses and created mood boards based off of my research. I created these mood boards to gain an idea of what aesthetic my currency bills would have. I focused on the typography, color palette, base images, image style, and graphic elements.
Here are the two mood boards I created.
Next, based off of my two mood boards, I created two trial bills to see which composition, story, and aesthetic I liked best. After receiving feedback from my professor and peers, I decided to go forward with the Greek gods and goddesses theme. I chose this theme over the flowers because I found it to have more of an interesting composition and tell a more interactive story.
The two trial bills I created are below.
For the final step, I went into Photoshop and Illustrator and created a set of three different bills. Each bill represents their own Greek god or goddess.
I am pleased with my final currency redesigns.
