Banknote / Currency Design

The 1457 Specimen Banknote is inspired by the astonishing work of the first printer in the western world – Fust and Schöffer, based in Mainz and fellows of Johannes Guttenberg. The “Mainzer Psalter” – Today UNESCO Memory of the World – was first multicolour printed book and the first covering a printer’s sign, shown on the verso side of the Banknote and in the Kinegram. The Mastery of these print pioneers can be seen on the big initial letters and the perfect type area which is shown on the verso side of the Banknote. The Recto side is lilted with types from the Psalter and shows the big griffin, sign of the printers glide and keeper of the knowledge.
