Delta Cafés - Campanha CARPE

"Sugar Campaign in the cafes of Viana do Castelo
The degree in Product Design [DP] from the School of Technology and Management of the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo [ESTG-IPVC], in conjunction with the Center for Monitoring and Psycho-Educational Rehabilitation [CARPE] and the Local Health Unit of Alto Minho [ULSAM], in partnership with Delta Cafés, developed sugar packs with awareness messages, whose objective is to alert to discrimination in mental health and to reduce the impact that stereotypes and negative attitudes on mental illness exercise in society, through the "Sugar Campaign". The “Sugar Campaign” consists of having the sugar packages distributed to all cafes that sell Delta products in the District of Viana do Castelo and the Municipality of Esposende. The campaign has been running since last March.

The idea of these responsible packages came from Tiago Mendes. Tiago was chosen from around 40 proposals for different packages of sugar. The jury was composed by the two professors responsible for the curricular unit of Design and Business Project II, Ermanno Aparo and Liliana Soares, Ana Curralo, graphic and communication designer in the design area, Rita Pinheiro, coordinator of the Degree in Food Science and Technology, Rosa Venâncio, quality manager of ESTG-IPVC, Fátima Cerqueira, designer and representative of CARPE and by Dr. Aníbal Fonte, representative of ULSAM. Despite currently being a Master's student in Integrated Design, Tiago was still a winner as a student in the Product Design Degree [DP]."
