Data Visualisation (Poster) — Love Report

Data Visualisation (Poster)  Love Report
The objective of the project is to create a well designed data visualisation poster of a given song.
Creative Approach & Challenges
The visual of the poster should communicate the information derived from the data collected. The background information of the song, as well as the artist, should play a part in deciding the art direction of the data visualisation poster.
Song synopsis: "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt
“You’re Beautiful” was a song by James Blunt, released in 2005 in his debut album. It was about a brief encounter with his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend on the train in London. They both caught eyes and lived a lifetime in that moment, but has not contacted since. Through the lyrics, this data poster aims to engage viewers to his feelings in that moment, using shapes to represent words of relief and stress, emotions, expressions and actions.
Outcome: 'Love Report' Data Visualisation poster
The whole poster was designed in a way that mimics olden day typewriter format. The font choice and colours of the poster were also limited to 3 as it would be a better way of showing when the words of relief and stress appears in the song.

The data is also presented in an army-styled report. It was because James Blunt was a former British army officer, and given that he would have needed to submit them to his superiors. A report is also a documentation of a particular incident, therefore it seems to be the best way to present the data.

The data was plotted for be read from the left to the right, starting from the top where the timing 00:00 is placed. Each line represents every 10 secs increment in the music timeline, and the music progress each second from left to right along the line. The data is then plotted based on which words appears at which particular second.
