A escolha de uma localização para implantação do Terminal Intermodal de Transportes partiu da sobreposição de dois planos individuais que atuam no segmento mobilidade urbana. O primeiro deles é o plano metroviário do Plano Diretor de Desenvolvimento Integrado da Região Metropolitana de Belo Horizonte (PDDI- RMBH), o segundo é o PlanMob da Prefeitura do município de Contagem (cidade da região metropolitana de Belo Horizonte- MG) o qual tem projetos de novas linhas de ônibus municipais e diretrizes de implantação de novos terminais. Apesar de agirem separadamente, ambos têm diretrizes em comum para a localização de uma infraestrutura de transporte. O terreno escolhido está atualmente vazio e é pertencente ao CEASA-MG, localizado no bairro Jardim Laguna em Contagem, majoritariamente residencial e horizontalizado. Este obtém proximidade da massa residencial que poderá ser atendida e também dos trajetos de metrô e novos ônibus. Além disso, o Terminal será intermodal por integrar os ônibus municipais, metropolitanos, possibilidade de se integrar ao futuro metrô subterrâneo, bicicleta e veículos particulares. Com intuito de minimizar os impactos possíveis às residências do entorno e garantir a vitalidade urbana em diversos horários do dia, este empreendimento se projeta além do funcionamento do prédio principal, o terminal, sobrepondo a este, os usos de praças com espaços de esporte e lazer e feira, para atender a dinâmica do entorno existente e dos futuros usuários do terminal. Este projeto se sustentará através de um financiamento de parceria público- privada, entre os governos municipais (ônibus municipais), do estado (ônibus metropolitanos) e federal (metrô) e o CEASA- MG.

The site choice for a Multimodal Station was based on two distinct local Master Urban Plans. The first is a metro’s Master Plan for the metropolitan area of Belo Horizonte city, capital of Minas Gerais state (for more information about it, search for "PDDI- RMBH"). The other is the Contagem city’s Mobility Master Plan, named PlanMob, which has projects of bus lines. City of the chosen site, Contagem is part of the metropolitan area of Belo Horizonte and the third biggest of the state. The site is currently empty and private, part of “Jardim Laguna” neighborhood, surrounded by residencies and commerce buildings. The station will integrate the transportation modals: metropolitan buses, local ones, metro, bicycle, and cars. Other important goal is to minimize the possible social and ecological impacts that the new construction could cause. Thinking on that and on activating streets and the site at different times of the day, it was proposed a mixed secondary uses integrated with the primary, which is the station. These uses are squares/ parks for leisure and sports and a market (inspired by the diverse diagnoses of the area). Closest to the residences it was placed the market and uses of the squares, and by the active avenue, the station.
