New and Old Events Set for 2020 World Series of Poker

Riad Agel is a San Francisco Bay Area professional who works with Lahlouh, Inc., where he is an account executive and meets diverse client printing needs. Passionate about poker, Riad Agel competed in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in 2018 and 2019, and achieved cashes in $1,000 No-Limit Hold-Em (NLHE) events in both series.

With events solidified for a 2020 calendar that runs from late May through mid-July, this year’s WSOP will include 24 events that are priced in the $1,000-and-under range and offer a deep structure for their entry fee. Among these will be perennial favorites such as the Monster Stack, Millionaire Maker, and Colossus, which bring in tens of thousands of competitors from across the globe.

Kicking off the series is the BIG 50, which premiered in 2019 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the WSOP. Combining 50,000 chip starting stacks with 50 minute levels, the $500 buy-in tournament attracted 28,371 entries last year. This made it the largest live event in poker history, with a first prize of more than $1 million.

Other new events include a $250,000 Super High Roller that will represent the largest buy-in WSOP bracelet event ever held. The $1,500 Mystery Bounty NLHE tournament is one in which each player is assigned a “bounty,” to be received by the opponent who knocks him or her out of the tournament. With the standard bounty $100, a hundred players will be randomly assigned secret bounties that range from $2,500 to $250,000.
